Green FC Free

Detox-compliant and OekoTex Appendix 6 certified hydrophobisation for DIOLEN® Polyester and TIMBRELLE® Polyamide 6.6 yarns

May 2018 Green FC Free is a fluorine-free hydrophobisation for all DIOLEN® POLYESTER and TIMBRELLE® POLYAMID 6.6 yarns of TWD Fibres. The optional yarn finish is a pollution-free alternative compared to fluorine-based hydrophobisation and is compliant with the requirements of the Detox-Campaign. The hydrophobic properties of Green FC Free have been tested by various standard test methods and confirmed by independent testing institutes. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and precursors were ranked by the European Commission as being substances of very high concern. Hence, from July 2020 onwards no more PFOAs of 25ppm or higher may be placed on the market.

Environmental Protection and Environmentally Friendly Textiles

Not just a Vision, but Reality

May 2018 Micro plastics in sea salt, PFOA pollution in environment and mankind, more swimming plastic than swimming fishes in the oceans – these kind of news are dominating our daily news. Of course, every branch rejects responsibility in a kind of reflex. Environmentally friendly textiles are often a niche market of young start-up companies, hold high as future vision with founder’s enthusiasm.

Antimony in Mattress Covering

The yarn producer TWD Fibres informs

August 2016 Antimony is a natural element that occurs in a very low concentration and it is an integral part of many textile products out of Polyester materials. It is also an integral part of most PET beverage bottles as well as other synthetic packaging materials. Caused by a recently launched article in German daily press antimony and its health effects are currently highlighted in public. Polyester yarns are especially used for mattress ticking textiles. They are highly abrasion resistant, very easy to clean and handle. But there are also alternative, antimony free Polyester yarns available with the same product properties. One example are the so branded DIOLEN®HYPOALLERGENIC yarns made by TWD Fibres GmbH.
